If you’re planning on wearing cotton, it can be a challenge to find a cotton dress that fits your body type.
And even if you do, it’s not always comfortable.
The latest research shows that women tend to prefer cotton over cotton-on-body fabrics, which are made with polyester, a fabric with higher abrasion resistance and less shrinkage than cotton.
Here are three ways to find cotton sheets that fit your body, according to research from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Utah.
First, choose the right cotton sheet size.
“The average size of a cotton blanket is 1 1/2 by 2 3/8 inches, while a standard cotton sheet is 6 1/4 by 8 inches,” according to the Hebrew study.
“However, it may be necessary to buy a larger size if you have large breasts or are obese,” said lead researcher Miriam Kupchan.
In other words, if you’re a taller woman, you might need to go up a size.
Second, choose fabrics that are easy to wash.
“A cotton blanket that’s a few layers thick is better for the environment because it can wash more quickly and is easier to clean,” Kupkan said.
And she added that cotton fabrics are softer than wool and silk, which can feel slightly more absorbent.
“They can feel softer, and they’re easier to dry,” she said.
If you don’t want to purchase fabric that’s more expensive, the research suggests that you should use the cheapest cotton fabrics available.
“You can’t go too cheap and too expensive,” Kupshan said.
“It’s a compromise.
You can buy cheap cotton fabrics at stores or online, but it’s better to buy the best fabric that you can find, because it will last longer.”
Third, try to find fabrics that you dont mind the odor of.
“For some women, it might be hard to find soft cotton fabrics,” Kuppans said.
The research shows women prefer cotton to fabrics made with synthetic fibers, which have high levels of odors.
“Cotton has a higher odor tolerance than synthetic fabrics because it’s softer,” Kippan said.
You’ll also want to avoid fabrics that have stretchy, which tend to get caught in your clothes.
“If you wear a cotton shirt that’s too short, it will pull on the fabric, causing it to break,” KUPKANS said.
There are a few other tips to keep in mind when it comes to choosing cotton fabrics: Avoid fabric that is too tight or too loose.
This is especially important when buying a cotton fabric that doesn’t stretch.
If the fabric feels too loose, the researchers recommend sizing down.
“Some women find that the tighter a cotton garment is, the more comfortable it is,” Kpaskins said.
